Why perfectionism can feel like safety.
A draft example of the voice and substance the blog could offer.
Perfectionism can look like a drive to do well. Sometimes it also carries an older hope: if I can get everything right, perhaps I can avoid criticism, conflict, or rejection.
For someone who learned early that mistakes had a cost, watching closely and trying harder may have been a way to feel safer. The inner critic can then sound harsh even when part of its job is to keep pain from happening again.
What changes when we get curious?
Instead of treating the pattern as a personal failure, we can ask what it once helped you manage. What happens in your body when you imagine disappointing someone? What do you fear they would see? What support was missing when this strategy first made sense?
There is room to respect why the pattern formed and to find other ways to care for yourself now.
